Falls Creek Alpine Resort is located in North East Victoria on the Northern edge of the Bogong High Plains in the East Kiewa River catchment. Falls Creek is 356km from Melbourne. The total resort area encompasses approximately 1,500 ha. It is surrounded by smooth undulating mountains and abuts the Rocky Valley Hydro Electricity storage which is used for various water sports during the summer months.
In winter access is via the township of Mount Beauty while in summer access can also be from Omeo - both featuring stunning alpine scenery along the way. The Omeo road has a gravel section and you should always check any travel advisories before using it. This road is closed in winter. During winter it is compulsory to carry snow chains, however, the road is regularly cleared of snow as required and chains are rarely fitted. No petrol is available at Falls Creek so make sure you fill up before you come up.

DRIVING / BY CAR
During winter, the roads in the Falls Creek Village are used as ski trails and closed to normal vehicles. To transport you and your luggage to Alpine View Apartments Oversnow vehicles are the only form of transport available. When arriving at Falls Creek you will be asked by the Falls Creek guides to proceed to the Oversnow terminal (also the Coach depot). You will not miss it! You can then book your Oversnow transport, book prior to arrival or leave it up to us at Alpine View Apartments. If you would like more information please visit the Oversnow website by clicking here. Once in Falls Creek Village a free shuttle service will transport you to restaurants, retail stores, the post office, the childcare centre or you can use it just for sightseeing.
Driving from Melbourne: There are many alternative routes to Falls Creek from Melbourne. Follow the Hume Highway from Melbourne to Sydney. If you would like a scenic and the most direct route then turn off just past the BP garage at Glenrowan and follow the signs to Milawa then Myrtleford and Bright. If you bring a map then you can take shortcuts which wind you through cow paddocks and past wineries and olive groves. Follow the signs to Mt Beauty, the town located at the base of Falls Creek. The road to Falls Creek gently winds uphill for 32 kms, so take your time and please drive carefully. By car, the trip takes approximately 5 hours from Melbourne’s CBD.
Driving from Sydney: Take the Hume Highway south via Golburn, to Albury/Wodonga. Then follow the signs to Mt Beauty, the gateway town to Falls Creek village.
