Surrounded by the best of Victoria’s alpine vistas, this is the place to be.
And if you're looking for a bottle or two of wine to fill that picnic hamper, a dozen wineries are dotted through our valleys and towns, including those at Myrtleford, Porepunkah, Tawonga, Tawonga South, Eurobin, Gapsted, Rosewhite, Kancoona South and Mongans Bridge in the Kiewa Valley. And be sure to look out for the local Wine & Food Festivals throughout the year - with so much fresh produce on our doorstep, you are sure to find something simply scrumptious!
Spring and early summer is the time when wild flower carpet the plains heightening already sublime mountain scenery. Bushwalkers can visit historic huts that dot the country-side in the lower parts of the valley along trails with stunning scenery and lookouts. Walks range from short, well-graded tracks that lead to scenic lookouts to challenging overnight hikes for experienced bushwalkers.
Yet you'll quickly discover too, that this is adventure country with a capital "A". As well as the adventure of overnight bushwalking in the alpine high country, there is abseiling, mountain biking and horse riding, fly fishing and canoeing, rock climbing and billy cart racing. Why not ride the highest spine Skateboard Park in the country? There are guides and instructors just waiting to get you going. You don’t even need your own equipment as there is plenty for hire at Falls Creek - so what are you waiting for?
